Virtual Field Trips

What exactly is a Virtual Field Trip?
A virtual field trip is a field trip that you can do right in your own classroom. It gives you the same benefits as a regular field trip except for leaving the classroom. Virtual field trips can get students out of the classroom without ever opening the door. They are designed to be entertaining and educational.

Where can you go on a Virtual field trip?
You can go anywhere with a virtual field trip. Students can take a trip around globe right from the comfort and convenience of the desk in the classroom they go to everyday. You can explore other planets or follow researchers across the frozen terrain of Antarctica. The Internet gives you so many choices to help your children learn more about everything and anything. With all the advances in technology virtual field trips make so much sense.

How can you create a virtual field trip?
Anyone who is computer literate can create a virtual field trip. "It's as simple as taking a camera with you on a normal field trip outside the classroom." All you have to do is upload several photos of the topic you want to explore on your trip and add them to your class website. Its as easy as that!

Benefits of Virtual Field Trips:
  • Schools will save money, because when you take a actual field trip, you have to be able to take a bus and be able to pay for the gas for that bus and sometimes kids have to pay admission to get into certain places.
  • Teachers don't have to worry about finding enough chaperons to accompany the kids on trips.
  • Virtual field trips can take kids to places they never dreamed of visiting. For example the Mars, the Grand Cannon, Antarctica, or even Time Square in New York City.

Some Personal Thoughts On Virtual Field Trips?

"As an aspiring teacher I definitely plan on using virtual field trips in my classroom. Hopefully this blog will help other aspiring teachers or current teacher the see the limitless possibilities in their classrooms with virtual field trips." Taking real field trips is a great teaching devise, although it is expensive. Virtual field trips can be just as entertaining and educational as a real field trip, except it costs a lot less, it is less preparation for the teacher, and you can go anywhere in the world. As a person interested in a career in education, these were the benefits I read in your article that encourages me to use virtual field trips in the future for my career or even personal use.

I liked that your post was separated into different paragraphs, was not too long and very to the point. I like that! A post does not have to be super-long to explain a point. Good job!

I thought the fact that you answered the what where and why questions really made me understand what you were talking about. I also like how you showed the benefits of virtual field trips and compared them to real live field trips.

Group Two, I enjoyed your blog. I thought it was very simple at getting the point across. These virtual field trips are a great learning tool in the classroom when it is not possible to get out of the classroom to learn. Great Job!

I like the benefits you guys added to this blog. Not only do virtual field trips can take students to places that you can't go on a real field trip, which i found fascinating. Virtual field trips also save so much money while having an effective learning experience.

I really liked how simple your post was, and how it had all the information needed to be complete. I also liked the benefits section. Good Job!!

This blog was easy to read since you put it into sections. I like how the group included the benefits so I'm assuming the disadvantages were not in the article but that would be something to look into as well.

I like how many groups chose the same article to write a summary about, but each group picked up on different topics in the article. You guys did a great job and caught some different points than my group did. You listed more benefits for example, great job!

I enjoyed the fact that you included possible locations for a virtual field trip, such as the Grand Canyon.

You guys did a good job with your post. It is easy to follow and understand. This allows people who are looking for a simple answer to a question to be able to go to that section in your post and read instead of having to read a whole article and try to find what they are looking for. Good job!

Very good blog. You didn't wander off the subject at all, but at the same time kept it interesting to read. The sentence structure was well formed and your ideas well expressed.

As a person who can really appreciate some good organization...I give kudos on your blog. It was simple, and to the point, wothout all the extra fluff that, i confess, i am guilty of adding in. =*)
The only downside i can see to your blog is that there was no listing, or mwntion of the disadvantages. BUT, come to thionk about it, i dont think myine did wither! haha. Anyhew, all in all...its a beatiful thing, and keep up the good work!

A nice thing nice about virtual field trips, it allows students to get a feel for other cultures beside their own and get to see more than a couple of pictures of the country. I liked the fact you had positive points brought out.

this article was a little short but didnt need to be long becuase all of the info. written. it was straight to the point and told you everything you needed to know about virtual field trips. my favorite part of this article is when it tells you places that i could go on a virtual field trip. i found this exciting, finding out places that i could go on these field trips that i normally wouldnt be able to go to.

Wow! I really liked this blog not only because it was short and to the point, but because you guys outlined the whole idea of virtual field trips. I liked the technique of telling everyone exactly what virtual field trips are even though we already knew. But for those who do not, they should now.
